Hi and welcome to the 2026 Puerto Morelos Winter Dance Camp!
First, please take a moment right now to check your passport’s expiration date! Expired passports are a disappointment and will cause you to miss camp. Don’t let this happen to you!
If you have sent your registration payment already, thank you! If not, please do so as soon as is convenient, especially if you are contributing scholarship money to help bring others to camp. Cancellations before February 8,2026 we will withhold $125. Any cancellations after February 8, 2026, will not be refunded. (Extenuating circumstances excluded)
Website
Please visit our Puerto Morelos DUP website for all camp details. We highly recommend reviewing all it has to offer, especially the Before Leaving Home section, to not miss out on important pre-camp information. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and consideration!
Travel
The first official dance will start the evening of Feb 13th ,and the last official dance will be the evening of Feb 19th , but consider coming early and/or staying longer. On Feb 11 & 12, join us for weed pulling and other dance space prep during the day and a pre-camp dance the evening of Feb 12. Also, many people stay for a week or more after camp and there’s a good chance of post-camp dances, music sessions, and group sightseeing adventures.
Once you have booked your travel tickets, please complete our travel form. Thank you!
There are various ways to get from Cancun to Puerto Morelos and I encourage you to check out this page for ideas to make it from the airport to the dance event
It’s a good idea to have some local currency in your pocket when you arrive. ATMs in Mexico can be unreliable and often run out of money. Here are a few tips to help you prepare:
- Visit your bank a week or more before traveling to get pesos. Banks typically need a few days to process your request.
- Compare rates at different banks and currency exchange services to find the best conversion rate.
- Our Acquiring Pesos web page has the details and offers several other suggestions.
Taking this step can help ensure that you have a smooth and enjoyable journey to camp.
For more travel details, refer to our Getting from Home to Puerto Morelos and Travel Documents web pages.
Lodging
If you have not yet booked your lodging, our Lodging Options web page contains both general and specific information about lodging in Puerto Morelos. This year we have 28 rooms at Hotel Las Arenas Puerto Morelos (where we dance) for 10 nights. Refer to our Booking Las Arenas web page to learn more about booking a room. Currently there is a waiting list for rooms at Las Arenas.
Schedule
Camp officially starts with a dance session on the evening of Friday, February 13th and officially ends with a dance session on the evening of Thursday, February 19th .
Pre-camp setup and dance space preparation begins Wednesday, February 11 and there will be a pre-camp dance session on the evening of Feb 12. If you are getting to Puerto Morelos early, please join us for both! There is also a good chance of post-camp dances with those that stay.
For schedule details, refer to our Camp Schedule web page. This describes our basic schedule for Camp, but some times could change. We’ll have our times firmed up and sent out in an email a week or so before camp and will also post in the WhatsApp group.
Camp Communication
If you haven’t done so already, please make sure WhatsApp is installed on your phone, then request access to the PM Dances Community announcements and main dancer chat using one of these ways:
If you are reading this on your phone, simply open this link. If you are reading this on your computer, grab your phone and scan this QR code. We are using the same WhatsApp Dancer Chat as we used last year. If you scan the code and it comes up on your phone, you are probably already a member of the community and chat.
Note: If you decide later that you don’t want to be in the main dancer chat, you can exit the group and still receive the community announcements.
Every year, those that attend Puerto Morelos are a mix of new dancers along with folks who have been coming to Puerto Morelos for years. We want to make everyone feel welcome and included in activities (outside of dance sessions) that the newcomers may not know about, from snorkeling and eating out to field trips, cenotes and elsewhere. There will be a group on WhatsApp, in the PM Dance Community, that you can join if you choose.
Health and Well-Being of Our Beloved Community
Please be aware that Covid is still a virus that is going around and we may have people in our community who are more at-risk for Covid complications. Please pay attention to your interactions for the 10 days prior to arriving at camp and limit your indoor interactions with large groups if at all possible. If you’re not feeling 100% well (according to your own baseline health) before you travel, please take a Covid Test to be sure you’re not carrying it into Camp.
If you arrive at camp after traveling and you’re not feeling well or have respiratory symptoms, DO NOT JOIN THE CIRCLE. Please notify Wayne, take a Covid Test and quarantine yourself until you are symptom free and you’re testing Covid negative.
Then you may wear a mask or sit outside the circle and watch if you choose. If you can, please bring extra covid tests to donate to camp.
If you are planning to ride a collectivo, bus or taxi with a group of people during camp, please wear a mask to limit your exposure and contribute to the well-being of our group.
OUR CAMP IS FRAGRANCE FREE!!
This is a scent free camp, but we do not police it except in extreme cases, so please be kind to and mindful of others. Some people have chemical sensitivities which are intensely triggered by any scents, chemical or natural, so bug spray (if needed) without scent is very important, as even smelling citronella or lemon-eucalyptus can cause some people an allergic reaction, like migraines.
Our Fragrance-Free Camp webpage contains more information, including a list of fragrance-free products recommended by people in our community with chemical sensitivities. If you have sensitivities, please take care of yourself as you would out in the world.
If you have questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to me using the information listed below.
