Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn’t matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again , come , come.”
Jalaluddin Mevlana Rumi
The Dances of Universal Peace are a spiritual practice that brings the medicine needed for our time. The alchemy of movement, music, and sacred phrases provides the opportunity to fully embody the qualities at the heart of all religious traditions: love, compassion, forgiveness, and joy. In our current consumer culture, there is a deep yearning to experience heart felt, meaningful connections, and to create community. We are starved for the opportunity to look someone in the eyes, hold hands, and be authentic about our state of being. The communities who come together to share the Dances have developed theses gifts. Although there can be some awkwardness at first, many people rapidly find themselves relaxing into a place that feels deeply familiar. This is the way we humans are wired to live.
We would like to share the opportunity to experience the Dances with many communities in the region. Having a tent allows us to set up camp just about anywhere! Each gathering can be suited to the needs and talents of the hosting group. In addition to the Dances, there might be yoga, meditation, sound baths, kirtan, outdoor adventures, or any number of inner explorations. Setting up the tent and making food together, and being close to nature fills our need for being part of a tribe. For people who have not been part of a larger Dance circle, the full power can be transnational.
The first event with the tent will be in Salmon, ID in June of 2018. We will learn how it goes up and have our kick-off Mystic Dance Caravan gathering.
