Funding a booth at Parliament of World Religions
Dear Ones,
A grassroots effort is researching the possibility of a booth at the Parliament of World Religions, so that the Dances of Universal Peace can have a presence there outside the Dance session(s) which will be part of the formal schedule (which is not published yet).
POWR is held this year in Salt Lake, Oct 15-19
We do know that Shabda will be giving a presentation on the Rhuhaniat, that we will be having some dance sessions in the conference, and that Zebunissa Anna Parker will be doing a session on “Honouring the Divine Feminine through the Diverse Spiritual Traditions. ” She will do the Dances and something akin to a universal worship ritual. It will be in the women’s sacred space. In addition, our own beautiful Melissa Zuckerman is working on finding us a place to hold a public dance on Wednesday eve (and perhaps other times as well). It feels like a booth would be a wonderful place to meet and share.
What do you think?
We envision it as a place to put out flyers for upcoming DUP retreats (sent to us by event organizers) and literature on the Dances, perhaps even a laptop showing selected Dance videos – maybe we’ll bring guitars and sing songs. We will have banners, chairs, maybe a rug and large thermoses of peppermint tea to share with visitors; and the booth can serve as a meeting place for our community (around 60 people at last count). A number of us will be hanging out there off and on, and who knows what conversations, singing, laughter and new Dancers could come from this?
This is a great opportunity to uncover new dancers for our bi-annual Lava dance retreats – so we are excited about the possibilities.
However, us little blades of grass roots who are creating this idea can’t fund this on our own, so we’re asking you in the larger community lawn if you could make a donation towards the cost of the booth ($1500). If you can, please email Zareen with your pledged amount. Sky is also sending out to her list and we are hoping to get a good idea of interest from the community in the next few days. If it looks like we can raise enough money to do this, we will get back in touch with you about where to send your donation.
Thanks for considering this,
Love to you all,
~Sky Majida Roshay, Zareen Connie Delaney and Laurie Adams
