A non-scientific study was recently conducted on the effects of community dancing on our health and well being. It was a non-scientific study, which means that it was just me sitting around and thinking about all the benefits of dancing for so many years. I thought about it good and hard… and I’m now publishing my results. This is the result of moving and harmonizing for decades with so many beautiful and inspiring people. This is the result of loving and being loved through every craziness possible. This is about the magic of music, and the miracle of you and me. I was thinking about what it has done for my life, and about the amazing changes I see in my many friends around the world!
The result of the study is: Yes!
Dancing in community is healthy, it’s fun, it helps us grow as full human beings, and it helps us share our joy with so many receptive friends.
It’s Real
There really are a lot of scientific studies that show that being in community and getting lots of hugs releases happy hormones in our body. There are studies on dance and music therapy that proves that people were made to dance and sing. There can be no doubt that communing spiritually is of benefit to individuals and to the community itself. I don’t know if it is measurable, but it probably is. I can definitely SEE the difference.
Last month I had the pleasure of going to Montana Family Camp and seeing young people who had grown up in the dance community. These were young folks that I had not seen for years. They had gone from kids to adults in those few years – and what astonishing adults they are! They are heading to college, starting careers and poised to start making amazing changes in our world.
So it’s like… yes. Dancing has helped me personally, and it’s helped all these parents with all these kids, and it’s helped the kids themselves. But it is also extending out into the world helping to create this new place that we all want to see.
Six Weeks Until Dancing in Lava
In six weeks we’ll be dancing again in beautiful Lava Hot Springs. To all the people who have danced with us throughout the years – thank you so much. You have meant so much to me, and have spread your love to the circle. To those who have not come yet… hurry! You must be ready for a good shot of happy juice surging through your blood from a hug. You must be ready for the music to carry you away to that calm cool place of inner knowing. You are certainly ready to try something that looks so beautiful and fun. A small risk perhaps, and a weekend that will change your life. We hope to see you at the next dance.
