Weather

It’s looking like we are going to have perfect weather. Though winter seems to be hanging on forever, we are regularly in the 40’s and 50’s now. The long range forecast is not showing any large storms coming. There may be light rain here and there, but driving into Lava Hot Springs will not be a death defying journey.

Food

As usual we’ll have our Friday night potluck. Cherrie Griffith is putting together lunch for us on Saturday, and Melissa will be cooking Saturday night dinner. We’ve had a few questions about vegetarians… and yes! We do have some meat at the retreat, but it is majority vegetarian… and always super yummy!

Curious about the Dances?

Live at Lava is an Annual retreat, each spring, for the Dances of Universal Peace. We join together to celebrate our ripening humanity and the peace and joy that comes from dancing together. It’s all very simple, and yet tremendously powerful.
We hold hands in a circle and the leaders teach a simple song inspired by any of the traditions from around the planet. The tune is held by a few acoustic instruments and everyone joins in rhythmic steps. The simple joining of people from many places, harmony from the song, movement of the feet and good intentions of the participants brings us quickly into a place that is rarely shared in modern life.

Be ready to move your body, open your throat to sing and experience a weekend like you never knew possible. On top of that, when not dancing we enjoy the wonderful hotsprings and hospitality of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Soaking in tubs and natural hot water, eating wonderful food with new and old friends, and smiling more than you knew possible in a day.

Summer Locations

Locations for setting up the tent are starting to pile in.

Salmon, Idaho

We have a wonderful family here in Salmon, Idaho who have offered us a nice spot on their ranch for free! It is nice and flat with a fantastic view overlooking the Salmon/Lemhi valley. Bob is going to be watering a mowing a soft lawn for us. It has a shop nearby with a bathroom (and even a shower) and there are tons of places to camp right on the ranch. Salmon has a number of nice motels for very reasonable prices for those who want a bed. We’ll be setting the tent up here first on June 14(ish).

Hamilton, Montana

Long time dance family Diana and Tom have a small ranch just outside of Hamilton with the perfect little lawn for the tent. They have a small retreat house for people to stay and plenty of camping. Hamilton also has lots of great motels. Dates… TBA

Hailey, Idaho

Diane Walker has a perfect place in the field next to her house. As a matter of fact! She even has a tent and is planning on setting it up this summer. We might just have a spontaneous dance there.
